Roycom Inc. is a Nova Scotia based company founded in 1976 by John Roy. Over the years, Roycom has transitioned in terms of its principal business from real estate brokerage to the pension fund advisor it is today. Roycom has invested in over 1.5 Billion dollars worth of real estate across Canada and US Southeast. This included the creation of several closed-end pension pools and the administration of direct purchase accounts operating across all property types.
Roycom created Summit Real Estate Investment Trust (Summit REIT). As was originally planned, Summit REIT became a publicly traded TSE Company (SMU.UN-TSE) with internalized management. Summit grew dramatically to become one of Canada's largest REIT's and the Country's largest publicly owned industrial landlord. Summit was sold to ING Real Estate in 2007 for $3.3 billion.
